Ann Curry

Ann Curry is a photojournalist writer, journalist, and photographer who has covered conflict zones over the last forty-five years. Her work focuses on human suffering as well as disasters. Curry covered the conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry is a journalist, television anchorperson and reporter who was born in 1956. Her most famous role was has been on Today the program, which is the National Broadcasting Co. morning news program that broadcasts daily. Curry is well-known for her reporting of humanitarian crises and natural disasters and natural disasters, particularly in countries that have been devastated by war. Curry's father was a naval officer with the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Curry's parents bonded in Japan, where her father had been stationed after World War II. The family was frequently on the move because of her dad's military service. Curry graduated from high school in Ashland Oregon. In 1978 she graduated in 1978 from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She was exposed to different cultures and environments throughout her childhood probably contributed to her empathy with which she approaches global issues. They moved frequently, so Curry did not remain in one place for more than two years traveling to various locations like San Diego Alameda Oregon and Virginia. In the end, she was able to graduate from Ashland High School. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon she began her career in the field of broadcasting. She was the first female journalist for the station at was 22. Then, she was an anchor/reporter for KGW at Portland Oregon. Then, four years later, she relocated to Los Angeles and became a reporter at KCBS TV. During the six years she worked for KCBS, she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
